Well Gail set the bar high last night and I will do my best to keep it up. Liz and Gail’s family have left and Kim is in her bed. I think it will be much more comfortable tonight as sister-in-law, Joni has sent her special “pregnant with triples” foam pad. I tried it and I didn’t want to get out of bed. Not a good start for my night watch.
I have a secret weapon tonight. I tied a bell on her bed rail. I told her it is to ring me but I have a feeling if she tries to get out of bed, it may signal her intent too. Her bed break may be foiled by the jingle of a bell. At least I am hoping so.
I wish I could give Kim some of my puny strength. As I get older I am frustrated when I can’t open a jar or lift something heavy like I use to. My diminishment has been gradual. Kim’s is happening way too fast. We don’t like it.
The hospice nurse is going to start to come more often. Not a good sign but she does give us wonderful support and guidance. We do appreciate it.
Kim’s caregivers have been eating well. It has been so great to not have to worry about preparing meals. I can’t tell you how often the time gets away from us and it seems like all of the sudden, Jess and Shane are in to eat. It is also great to be able to feed Kim’s kids when they come to visit. We never know who or how many may come, but no one goes away hungry. We have not had to worry or divert our concentration away from Kim. Thank you so much. Kim has a lot of earthly angels supporting her.
The house is quiet. There are no bells ringing so I better set my alarm for a nightly check and hit the hay.
Thanks for caring,
Jan
