Shane took Kim to the emergency room at UMC last night. She was hemorrhaging from her tumor. They are trying to stop the bleeding and they are going to give her some blood. If the bleeding does not stop, they will do a procedure through an artery with a camera. They will try to identify the exact bleed spot and a radiologist will cauterize the spot.
If everything goes according to schedule and it all happens the way they want it to, they may release her. She really wants to be at Relay for Life. She may not get to go but we told her we will do our best to cover it for her.
Family will rally and relay! (and pray)
Update 12:30 pm
The doctors estimated the procedure would take 2 hours and we are nearing that mark. The nurse just called Shane to reassure him that Kim is doing well. We will update once we know more.
Update 2:15 pm
Kim is back in her room. They reported that they accomplished what they went in to do! Kim said that she thinks they treated multiple sites. She was awake for the procedure. She still has her sense of humor! Will update more after Dr. Remmenga stops by.
Update 6:57 pm
Dr. Remmenga stopped by and said that they would keep Kim overnight and let her go home in the morning. She received a unit of blood during the procedure and would get another one tonight. Kim was able to rest once she got back to the room. Thanks for keeping her in your prayers!
